What is the difference between an Adult Matric qualification, the Amended Senior Certificate (ASC), and a high school matric, the National Senior Certificate (NSC)?

A high school matric qualification is the National Senior Certificate (NSC) available only to high school learners under 21 years of age. This is the traditional way of obtaining your Grade 12/matric. An Adult Matric qualification is the Amended Senior Certificate (ASC). This is when adult learners complete their matric qualification outside of the basic schooling system and is awarded to adults, 21 years old and older.
