Already wrote matric? Get the marks you need for your next step by rewriting one or more subjects online.
Matric Rewrites at UCT Online High School is for learners who have written their National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams and want better marks or a pass in a failed subject. You study one or more subjects online, from R479 per month, with a Support Advisor, and write in May and June through the DBE.
Matric Rewrites is for learners who have completed their National Senior Certificate (NSC) and want to retake one or more specific subjects.
21 or older? Adult Matric prepares you for the Amended Senior Certificate instead.
How it works
Decide which subjects you want to rewrite. It can be one subject, or up to six.
Apply online and choose the bundle that matches the number of subjects you are rewriting.
You register for the May and June exams with the Department of Basic Education yourself.
Work through the online modules and resources for each subject, with your Support Advisor there for questions.
Write your exams, then apply for an updated NSC certificate with your new results.

FAQs
You can rewrite with us if you have written your final matric exams before, have a complete School-Based Assessment (SBA) portfolio with no 777s, are under 21 when you register, and are rewriting the same subjects you wrote. If you are 21 or older, look at Adult Matric instead.
No. You register for your exams with the Department of Basic Education (DBE) yourself, and you write them in May and June. We prepare you for them, with online modules and resources for each subject and a Support Advisor to answer your questions.
You pay a monthly fee based on how many subjects you rewrite: R479 per month for one subject, R649 per month for 2 to 3 subjects and R899 per month for 4 to 6 subjects. Every bundle includes all the online content for your subjects and a Support Advisor.
No. Matric Rewrites is asynchronous, so there are no live classes to attend. You work through the online modules and resources for your subjects in your own time, and your Support Advisor answers your questions when you get stuck.
After you have written your exams in May and June, you apply for an updated National Senior Certificate (NSC) that includes your new results. We prepare you for the exams, but the Department of Basic Education sets and marks them.
A Matric Rewrite is for retaking only the NSC subjects you want to improve. You study online at your own pace and write DBE exams in May and June. A Matric Repeat is the full Grade 12 year again: all seven subjects, live academic sessions and SACAI final exams in October and November. Both are for learners under 21.
Adult Matric. It prepares you for the Amended Senior Certificate (ASC), whether you never finished school or want to pass subjects you did not pass before. You must be 21 or older when you write the ASC exams. Our Matric Rewrite and Matric Repeat options are for learners under 21.
